FLUFFY TOWN

There was once Alpha House, its sketch-Club, and all around a big city full of sky scraped by concrete and glass, and in between, other 'itch-hickers' taking over galleries and the street! I'm going down, down, down, down... to Fluffy Town!

Newly situated just behind Central Station, we remain committed to
providing an accessible creative space for emerging artists in the
inner-city. We accept proposals from artists and designers from all
disciplines and our gallery, with its professional fit-out, can cater
to a
variety of needs.
Our motivation is to provide a platform for new emerging talent - to
nurture an environment in which the artists and the audience can feel
comfortable interacting. Having come from an object based background
ourselves, we are particularly dedicated to raising the profile of this
area which includes the art of glass, metalwork, plastics, ceramics and
more. Object art and design is an area in which so many innovative and
playful things are occurring, but one that is frequently under exposed.
As
well as the main gallery we also have g2 which is our permanent display
section featuring a range of local as well as overseas artists and
designers –a great opportunity to access affordable, new and exciting
work. This collection is updated regularly and many of our artists are
also happy to take custom orders. The g2 collection is a must to be
investigated by those appreciative of quality workmanship and original
design.

~To Have and to Hold~
Luiza Milewicz, Nicole Bannerman, Sylvie Markovina

To Have & To Hold is an exhibition that explores the handbag from the
perspective of a jewellery object rather than being limited solely to
its
conventional connotation as a fashion accessory. The handbag is a
portable container for all of the ephemera of private and public life,
and
so its significance is determined also by its contents. Three
contemporary artists bring together their individual styles to
interpret
the handbag and its contents as reflected by their backgrounds in
jewellery and fashion.

Please stay tuned for further 07 program details

~This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through
the
